Offered as an elective course for any grade level, the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (JROTC) curriculum offers a unique opportunity for the students that enroll each semester. Areas of study offered each semester are:
Unit 1 - Introduction to JROTC
Unit 2 - Leadership Theory and Application
Unit 3 - Foundations for Success
Unit 4 - Wellness, Fitness, and First Aid
Unit 5 - Geography and Earth Science
Unit 6 - Citizenship and American History
Unit 7 - Marksmanship (Optional)



The mission of JROTC is "To Motivate Young People To Be
Better Citizens". We attempt to broaden your horizons by developing your
leadership skills, enhancing your communications skills, showing you how to
become involved in your community, expecting you to be responsible for your
actions, exposing you to physical training, and allowing you the opportunity
to become a leader by being part of the student chain of command.


The purpose of JROTC is "To Develop Leadership". Colleges, employers, athletics, communities and the military are constantly searching for individuals who can organize, make decisions, take charge, motivate, and mentor others. JROTC offers you the opportunity to do all of this and more.



A typical week in the JROTC Program consists of:
Monday - Physical Training
Tuesday - Completing lessons and assignments, classroom instruction
Wednesday - Wearing your uniform, drill and ceremony, leadership challenges
Thursday - Completing lessons and assignments, classroom instruction
Friday - Current events, students presenting topics to the class, guest speakers







JROTC also offers these extra curricular activities:
Color Guard Participation/Competition - school functions, assemblies,
games, parades, other opportunities as the community requests
Community Projects/Support - example - placing flags on Veterans Graves at local
cemeteries (volunteer basis)
School Projects/Support - example -writing letters to servicemen, assisting
in the media center
Drill Team Competition - currently forming the Drill Team
Field Trip - We take a field trip each semester, student cadet chain of command
plans this.
Military Ball - Each year we consolidate with the 3 other schools and have a
formal event.
Awards Day - Each year we consolidate with the 3 other schools at Glenwood Park
for a cookout and award our deserving student cadets
Raider Team - Elite cadets earn Raider status by completing tough physical and
mental challenges
Summer Camp - Students may attend a 1 week summer camp and earn the rank of
2LT
Marksmanship Team - Volunteer students may receive marksmanship and weapons
safety training, and then compete against other schools JROTC rifle teams
Physical Training Team/Competition - currently forming a team to compete against
other schools in running, sit-up, push-up and pull-up competitions.
