Evan Smith
Article by Carlie Sizemore

A senior at BHS got the opportunity to go to the Golf Academy in Hilton Head, SC during his junior year. The Golf Academy is a private school where the students try to improve their golf skills. Evan told us that there were not any applications to get into the Academy; the only thing he said he did was pay tuition. When asked what a normal day at the Golf Academy consisted of, Evan replied “We went to school from eight am to twelve pm, and we played golf from twelve pm to five pm.” Evan took business and journalism courses while attending the Academy. Evan said he believes the Golf Academy was beneficial to him in many ways. He said that he got the opportunity to meet people from different countries and learn about their cultures. Evan said he did miss his friends from BHS, and that the Academy differed from BHS because there were so many different cultures and languages there. When asked where he would rather be Evan said “There, I like being near the beach and I liked living on my own.” Evan’s professional golf plans are still unknown for sure, but he has received a scholarship to play at Western Carolina University.
