Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a program that helps you during your high school years. It helps teens to see what else they can do to pursue their dreams or careers, beyond high school. I am also a part of the Upward Bound program. Upward Bound is branched out by the Trio program, which is also related to other organizations, such as Talent Search.

During the school year, Upward Bound has meetings every week. Every other month, there is a Saturday session in which all the Upward Bound members from your area meet up and have a field trip. Upward Bound helps teens to explore and grow. It gives teens advice and experiences, so when it’s time to leave for college it isn’t such a hassle.

During the summer, we stay on campus at Concord University and take classes to help us prepare for the upcoming school year. After you graduate, you become part of the Upward Bound ‘Bridge’ program. The bridge program helps you take care of your first semester of college. You also get help with financial aid and housing situations. Also during the summer you go on field trips every week, and a big field trip at the end of the summer, like to a beach or an amusement park. The best part of the whole thing is that you get paid for attending! It’s truly an amazing program, and I would encourage anyone to join.
